We have arrived back on Ibiza from the neighbouring island of Mallorca where we have photographed a wonderful spring wedding for a Russian client. After arriving here a couple of days ago for the shoot, we traveled across to the smallest habitable Balearic Island of Formentera. Here, we were commissioned to photograph a hotel on the island before the season starts in earnest.
Formentera lies to the south of Ibiza and the only way to get there is by boat. The ferries leave from Ibiza Town regularly throughout the day. If you’re heading out there on an excursion then I would suggest hiring a bike in Es Pujols where you will dock. This is the best way to get around the island. The island is not very large so a one hour cycle will get you to almost everywhere on the island. The pace of a bike ride and the lack of many cars make it the easiest way to see the island. We had a walk down to the beach Es Calo de Sant while we were here. Formentera is a beautiful part of the world but especially when you get the beach to yourself.
We will be returning here over the summer months to photograph a couple of weddings. The place will be busier and the beaches will be especially busy. Despite the many good beaches across the Balearics, Formentera has the best. The sand seems whiter here and they are all very clean. In addition to this the water remains shallow for some distance, especially to the north of the island where it faces Ibiza. If you want excellent beaches and warm water, this is the place to enjoy it all.
