Santa Maria of Dalt Vila
We were in Ibiza Old Town at the church of Santa Maria for a Catholic wedding in the prettiest part of Ibiza Town. Dalt Vila is the Catalan name for upper town. This part of Ibiza is ancient. With boutique hotels nestled into the hill, ancient streets and views across the port and the island, this part of Ibiza is so different to the club and nightlife which exists below.
Both the bride and the groom were catholic. Therefore they were allowed to legally get married on the island. Most couples from the UK sign the marriage certificates in the UK and have a blessing in Ibiza with family and friends. The blessing and celebration often prioritised in a warmer climate where the sunset is almost guaranteed.
