We have been working with six talented students from Leeds University on a London fashion shoot. The selected students showed individuality and talent on their course and therefore were given the opportunity to have their collections photographed. Having professional studio photographs will serve them well when applying for work after university life.
A professional hair and make up artist was booked and the studio space at The Worx was hired for the day. This shoot different to other fashion shoots we have executed in the past. Each student had to have a different look and feel from the shoot. Therefore there was preparation work to do beforehand. We created a mood board for each student, looked through their collection and decided on the feel of the shoot.
The studio space was transformed for every look and we photographed three or four looks for every student. Twenty four looks in all were photographed that day. It was testing but very different. The format for a fashion shoot would normally follow five or six changes with one designer. Therefore the students had work with us to get the best in the time that they were allotted. Considering the work load, everyone performed well.
Once the key pieces had been photographed we had the task of editing and manipulating the best photographs for each student. We worked through the edit together and the result was a selection of prints from our photography studio. The photographs were supplied on the finest Hahnemuhle photographic paper which have been shown to prospective employers.
This London fashion shoot was something which had worth while results. If it helped progress the students into a professional career in fashion then it was even more worth while. A great experience for everyone involved.
