May Weddings on Mallorca

We had the pleasure of photographing two very different weddings on the island of Mallorca in May. Firstly at the Sanctuari del Puig de Maria overlooking the town of Pollenca and secondly at the luxury Hotel Park Hyatt, also on the east side of Mallorca.

Sanctuari del Puig de Santa Maria – Pollenca

This was the first wedding in recent times to take place here so we felt truly blessed to be a part of it. Even more so, with overnight accommodation the evening before the wedding day. An early rise with views overlooking the Bay of Pollensa and the Bay of Alcudia was the perfect start to a most beautiful day. We joined the bridal party mid-morning and captured the bridal preparations with her four bridesmaids and a few of the wedding guests.

The rest of the guests were to arrive at 1pm at the church. If you are curious about the location of this sanctuary, it is clearly signposted on the main road MA-2200 which runs past Pollensa to the south of the town. If you’re heading from Port Pollensa then the turn will be on the left hand side. Either walk from the bottom or take the car and park it in a small car park part way up the road. The last portion of the track will narrow to a pathway. You will need to make the final part of the journey by foot and it should take 15-30 minutes depending on your level of fitness. From the very bottom then you should allow an hour.

Many guests walked from the bottom of the hill. The sanctuary has a well stocked cafe with cool refreshments and good, freshly made food. Albert who manages the sanctuary is a pleasure to deal with and will make you feel very welcome.  With everyone at the chapel, the ceremony couldn’t have had a better view across part of the island of Mallorca. If you want a religious wedding then we couldn’t praise this location more highly. It is a true gem and largely undiscovered. We are the first ones to photograph here in recent years and very excited to show it to any potential wedding customers. Our edit will be complete over the coming weeks so please revisit this blog post to get a feel for the venue.

If you need any information on the sanctuary then click on their Facebook page link below to get all the contact info and see some pretty spectacular photographs;

Hotel Park Hyatt

The second wedding in quick succession, and this one was as special as the first. A meeting from many people on the African continent at the Hotel Park Hyatt. Uganda and Zambia in-particular, with relatives also from Australia and England. Photographs from both weddings will appear in our Mallorca Portfolio section soon. The portfolio can be viewed here by clicking the link below.

What made this wedding special, as I’m sure you can imagine, was the culture of the Africans on Mallorca. We were treated to the colourful dress, the dancing and the enthusiasm from these incredible individuals. They made photographing them an absolute pleasure.
