Iglesia Nova in Son Servera
Iglesia Nova Son Servera is something quite unique. Although the name suggests otherwise, the place has no roof, is far from anything that resembles new and although the three remaining walls are sound, the place is essentially a ruin. Despite this however, it is quite a superb place to hold your ceremony if the weather allows as what was once the stone floor of the nave, is now a well manicured lawn.
The individual chambers to the sides of what were the aisles are now individual spaces where potted plants and ivy now grow so they serve as a photogenic location for photographers to get some strong photographs of small group photographs.
Iglesia Nova Son Servera is also allowing access to the upper parts of the remaining walls so if you’re fit enough to haul yourself up the stone steps on the west wall then you can get some quite superb photographs of the wedding party from high, capturing all of the environment which makes a wedding ceremony here unique to the island and I’m sure, unique to many other places, no matter where you are.
Once the ceremony has concluded then the square just a minute’s walk from the church has a couple of bars to get everyone re-hydrated and refreshed before they head off to the wedding breakfast and reception.
On this occasion we were heading back to Valldemossa, around a one hour drive away! This is how special this place is. If you’re curious then please have a look at this venue as it will not disappoint. For strong wedding photography then Iglesia Nova Son Servera definitely gets the thumbs up from us.
The wedding reception was held at a rather impressive villa high in the Tramuntana mountains, overlooking the the island to the north. There are many villa rentals available for your wedding and we can supply a list upon request.
The inclusion of outside caterers is essential when hiring villas. If you get the right ones then hosting a wedding at a villa such as this will add to your celebration.
The villa is hired for a wek which gives you a base throughout your time on the island.
